One of the new systems in Against the Dark Yogi is the karma system, which replaces the luck system found in other Saga Machine games. The idea of karma is a concept that is very common in Vedic spiritual thought, and one that should also be familiar to most of us here in the West....
A while back I went through the list of skills from first-generation Saga Machine games and put some thought into what skills are more useful or less useful than the others. Out of this search the Performance skill jumped out as one that seems lacking....
The first generation of Saga Machine games have a system of stances in the core combat module rules. The stance system is basically a stance that a character can take in combat that modifies her actions and other mechanical elements in some way....
So far in the Development Blog we've talked a lot about the next generation of Saga Machine games in general and the direction we're planning to take things. What we haven't done is talk a lot about the next game we're working on Against the Dark Yogi. There's a reason for this. Although the game has been in development for some months, there hadn't yet been a playtest, and things were still in many ways up in the air....
2012 was a good year for The Tab Creations Collective. We progressed from 2011 which saw the release of the Saga Machine Companion, an update to our Saga Machine system, through an entire new year. It was also the 20th year of Tab's existence in some form. Not bad....
